Validated Competency Measurement
Put simply, Six Sigma is a methodical approach to eliminating defects in any process.
-
We employ multiple disciplines involving process improvement and human performance improvement to achieve sustainable changes, or continuous improvement. Our approach with every individual project is to consider improvement methods at our disposal, and choose the most effective tool for each situation. We often deploy Lean and Six Sigma process improvement techniques within a Kaizen workshop, followed by human performance improvement to ensure process changes are implemented with accountability across the organization. The end goal is to have a balanced view of all disciplines, so that the most appropriate methods and tools can be brought to bear on each project.
-
The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma methodology is the implementation of a measurement-based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation. Six Sigma techniques provide a rigorous, disciplined method of addressing complex defect causes. Often we employ Six Sigma methods to solve multi-variant defects, where several variables potentially affect the defect. Each of our consultants is Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certified, so we can utilize Six Sigma tools, as required, to keep your improvement journey moving forward.
Creating more value with less work.
-
Instructus helps companies discover dramatic new efficiencies using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma improvement methodologies. We use a hands-on approach to help teams implement results quickly. We teach your organization to internalize and accelerate the process. All of our practicing partners are certified Six Sigma Black Belts and experienced Lean practitioners. We have broad industry experience spanning manufacturing to healthcare, aiding hundreds of organizations to optimize clinical, operational and financial performance.
Enhancing and sustaining process improvements.
-
Process improvements are not sustainable without people improvement. Human behavior, performance evaluation and performance improvement are critical to enhancing or sustaining process improvements attained through the implementation of Lean Six Sigma principles.
-
Numerous studies have demonstrated that the sustainability of lean Six Sigma Programs requires the synchronization of Six Sigma efforts with a comprehensive and on-going plan for assessment, development and training in numerous areas of employee engagement and management skill.
-
Employee engagement, job fit, collaboration and cooperation, talent potential, working relationships and management skill drive business outcomes. Thus, the early assessment of variables such as leadership skills, working behaviors, teambuilding skills, working relationships and management skills is critical if the continuous development of learning practices and processes is to occur and be sustained over the long term.
-
To enable and facilitate long-term sustainability of change initiatives, Instructus works in alignment with our Six Sigma team following a parallel process that mirrors, enhances, and strengthens the Six Sigma Process. Just as the proper mixture of cement, water and other aggregates such as sand must be precisely mixed in order for concrete to set properly and endure the test of time, change management efforts must have a careful blend of process re-engineering efforts combined with an assessment and development of the human factors that drive and sustain success.
Change for the better.
-
This is usually the kick-off phase of any Lean and Six Sigma project. Kaizen Workshop is an action-oriented, team-based approach used to implement results quickly on a pre-selected business opportunity. A Kaizen team is comprised of cross-functional workers at all levels of the organization. Teams are given short-term objectives to accomplish during the weeklong session. Typically, these objectives include challenges related to quality, productivity, lead-time, inventory, and space reduction. Kaizen workshops focus on continued testing and standardization of improvements: "Take action, learn, and improve."
-
The first day is training on core modules of overall Lean Six Sigma Improvement strategy, followed by selected optional modules of Lean and Six Sigma concepts we believe the team will utilize for their particular project. We set expectations and facilitate the team and the organization to implement changes and achieve dramatic performance results quickly. This "bias for action" helps us enthuse people, avoid analysis-paralysis which may sidetrack a great idea, and energize the culture with how much can be accomplished in a focused one-week workshop
-
Our consultants remain actively engaged with the Kaizen teams throughout the event. Additionally, they will meet with senior management to assess both project progress and cultural embracement of these improvement techniques, and to define future kaizen needs.
Analyzing Information and material flow.
-
A Value Stream Map is a graphical representation of the process as it is today in your organization. This allows everyone to see the “current state” reality of the impact of the process as it exists today on internal operations and/or your customers.
-
We facilitate your team to envision what a changed process would look like then create a “future state” Value Stream Map, complete with estimated benefits and performance characteristics. The journey from the current state to the future state establishes direction for the Lean Six Sigma implementation.
